      Kanyi Mavi (South Africa) is one of the most talented Xhosa performing rap artist I have ever heard. Her music has addressed class divisions in South Africa and domestic violence. She is outspoken on what she sees as the importance of performing in Xhosa, though she’s fluent in English, and remaining connected to her township, Gugulethu. This is where we took the picture after I got lost trying to find her home visiting for the 1st time because she insisted I meet her on her turf.
